The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine offers a full range of laboratory technologies that are unparalleled in the San Fernando Valley. Our state-of-the-art equipment and advanced lab procedures provide vital information to doctors that help people live healthier and longer lives.
Our highly skilled team of physicians, clinical laboratory scientists and laboratory assistants offer 250 different diagnostic tests in-house and perform 2.7 million lab tests annually. The Laboratory analyzes everything from cholesterol to potassium levels, hormones to blood counts, and glucose levels to immune protection.
The new ability to identify biomarker characteristics in certain cancers provides the opportunity for physicians to personalize a patient's treatment approach. Our lab provides this testing breakthrough in cancer treatment, called molecular diagnostic testing.
By offering highly sophisticated diagnostics, the lab impacts the evaluation and treatment of almost every patient in the hospital. As part of a multi-site laboratory practice, top pathologists are always on hand.

An automated tracking system allows bar-coded test tubes to be read by computer ensuring the utmost in accuracy and speed.

Do I need an appointment to get my blood drawn?
Answer: No appointment is necessary between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Lab is located on the basement level of the hospital.
How do I get my laboratory results?
Answer: If you are a patient, please contact your physician or NHMC Medical Records at 818-885-5309 for a copy of your results.
Do you have a Blood Bank on Campus?
Answer: Yes, the lab maintains a Blood Bank for emergencies and transfusions.
