FREE Heart Health Classes

Healthy Heart Events

In an effort to improve our community’s knowledge of heart health, we are offering the following FREE Healthy Heart educational classes, with special events during Heart Month in February.

Delaying medical care after a heart attack can substantially affect the outcome and increase the chance of death. According to a recent issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, more and more people are waiting to go to the hospital after experiencing symptoms of a certain type of heart attack, known as a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

The report revealed patients waited an average of two hours before seeking medical treatment, despite ongoing public education on heart attacks. Patients should call 911 if symptoms suggestive of a heart attack do not improve within five minutes.
