Healthy Hearts Live Longer
Helping you maintain a healthy heart and an active lifestyle are top priorities for the physicians and staff of the CardioVascular Center. We provide a full range of comprehensive cardiac care from education and prevention, to rehabilitation and high-tech diagnostic and surgical capabilities.
As one of the first STEMI (Heart Attack) Receiving Centers in Los Angeles County for heart attacks, Northridge Hospital has met the most stringent standards for heart care in the nation. The Emergency Medical Services of LA County developed the standards to ensure the best possible survival from a heart attack through earlier definitive diagnosis and treatment. This protocol is being watched by the nation as the new gold standard in heart care.
New CardioVascular Center Underway
Just steps away from the entrance, our newly expanded CardioVascular Center is being designed for convenience. Adjacent to the main lobby, it will provide medical personnel, patients and their families’ easy access to a wide range of services, from prevention, diagnosis and treatment. The new facility will complement our existing two multipurpose Catheterization Labs, Electrophysiology Lab and Hybrid Bi-plane OR Suite.
We offer patients emerging technologies in interventional capabilities for the treatment of coronary and peripheral vascular disease. And through our clinical research we are able to offer the latest technologies.
Undergoing delicate medical procedures can raise many questions and emotions for patients. We want you to know you are not alone. Our caring staff of trained physicians, nurses, technicians, and counselors can answer your questions and help you feel comfortable with your medical treatment.
Revolutionary Siemens Hybrid Bi-Plane OR Suite
Heart procedures are now more efficient than ever before with the arrival of the Siemens Hybrid Bi-Plane OR Suite. Northridge Hospital is the first facility in Southern California to offer this technologically advanced room, which combines imaging capabilities, vascular interventional procedures and surgery in one convenient area.
At many hospitals, patients with a blockage in their veins or arteries are transferred to numerous areas during treatment. They have imaging tests in one part of the hospital and treatments in a Catheterization Lab. If surgery is required, they are transferred again to an operating room. This type of maneuvering can cost valuable time and induce stress on patients if complications arise.
At Northridge Hospital, we offer all of these treatments in our new Siemens Hybrid Bi-Plane OR Suite. That means cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons work closely together, making the transition from catheter-based intervention to open surgery seamless and efficient.
What’s more, Hybrid features never-before-seen imaging capabilities. We can treat aneurysms of the thoracic aorta and abdominal aorta with ultra-clear visualization of small vessels, stents, catheters and guide wires. This allows us to implant, repair and perform complex minimally invasive procedures on the spot.
Patient benefits include:
- Reduced need for ICU care
- Less radiation used during imaging
- Shorter procedure times
- Shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries
Patients benefit from the intervention of a highly-experienced, interdisciplinary treatment team, who are highly skilled in the areas of cardiac surgery, interventional catheterization, vascular brachytherapy, electrophysiology, vascular surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, and other diagnostic specialties. Working hand-in-hand with physicians, the nurses, technicians, dieticians, therapists and social services staff in the Cardiovascular Center are highly skilled in caring for cardiac patients and to ensure you receive the best care possible.
