50th Anniversary Issue

Northridge Hospital Medical Center has been making miracles happen for over 50 years. When Northridge Hospital opened 50 years ago, West San Fernando Valley was a sleepy little community with acres of open fields and just a few housing tracts dotting the landscape. Only about 200,000 people called the Valley home.

Today, Northridge Hospital serves more than two million Valley residents - and is a compassionate corporate citizen in a vibrant local community. We have grown to meet the increasing demand for acute care and specialized medical care.

We are proud of the positive impact that we've had on the lives of the patients we have touched. Learn how our dedication to superior patient care has made a difference in the lives of those who live in our community.

Fifty Years of Making Miracles

The Northridge Earthquake struck on January 17, 1994 at 4:40:55 am. The epicenter was less than one mile from Northridge Hospital Medical Center. Some say it was a miracle that Northridge Hospital could be at the epicenter of the largest earthquake to hit Los Angeles in modern times - and still take care of patients.

The founding physicians share the rich heritage of dedication to the community, and a commitment to improving health beyond their own individual practices. We are proud of the many long-term members of the medical staff and hospital employees who are devoted to providing the best care to our patients.

We look forward to continuing our tradition of making miracles as we move into the hospital's next half century. You can download the 50th Anniversary issue of HealthSpeak, or selected sections.
