KABC Channel 7 TV Reporter and Anchor Adrienne Alpert has told hard-hitting news stories for years. But 10 years ago, she made her own national headlines when her news van’s antenna mast hit a power line causing her severe electrical burns. Tragically, Adrienne lost most of her left arm and right leg, and a portion of her right hand and left foot, leaving her a quadruple amputee. It’s known as the “Western Oscar!” And the Golden Boot induction ceremony was held this year at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and awarded to Robert F. “Bobby” Hoy, an 82-year-old film legend and patient in the Critical Care Unit. Days later, Bobby succumbed to his illness.
Restaurant Owner Leonardo Lopez was driving home when an assailant demanded money on a 101 Freeway off-ramp. Leonardo refused and was shot several times. Leonardo arrived at Northridge Hospital's Level II Trauma Center at 3:13 a.m. where our elite Trauma Team was assembled to provide treatment within his most crucial hour known as the Golden Hour—known as the first critical hour that can affect a patient’s outcome.
