Knowing these numbers can help improve your body and mind, even if you're not a math whiz. Get the healthy 411 and know your numbers for a healthier you. Prevent the top three causes of death in the U.S. ---  heart disease, cancer and stroke. Well-known prevention methods for all three include exercising, healthy eating, managing diabetes, not smoking and controlling blood pressure and cholesterol. Surgical Excellence Fall 2011

Always looking ahead! That’s how Northridge Hospital Medical Center maintains our commitment to offer the latest medical advancements that result in improved patient outcomes. We are the only hospital in the San Fernando Valley equipped to treat a wide range of surgical needs with minimally invasive technology.

Case in point: we are one of the few hospitals in the area to offer minimally invasive Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery. Plus, we were the first facility in California to have two fully integrated high definition EndoSuite® Operating Rooms. They feature the latest in camera and digital capture technology, including HDTV monitors to provide our surgical teams the best visualization possible. Summer 2011 Happily Ever Afters

 

Inspiring stories of hope and healing are featured in our current issue as patients share their recoveries and are rejoined in marital bliss. And, Jaimee Jessop can hold up her head, feed herself and is learning to walk—again— precious milestones every parent awaits. But Jaimee’s first steps are nothing short of a miracle for the Jessops, who found her unconscious and in full cardiac arrest when she was just 3 years old.

During the past 10 years, Northridge Hospital Medical Center has reached out to fortify our community support by awarding more than $1.1 million in community grants to 64 nonprofit groups. Northridge Hospital proudly awarded six grants, this year, totaling $151,760. Read all the stories in our current issue.

Winter 2011
First & Only Pediatric Trauma Center

 
Northridge Hospital now boasts the only Pediatric Trauma Center in the San Fernando Valley. The Level II Richie Pediatric Trauma Center opened this past fall and provides life-saving care to infants, children and adolescents. Care for our smallest patients begins with our Babies First services and extends through our pediatric services with a specialized Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and our trauma care.

The nervous system is our body’s communication network. It begins in the brain, extends down the spinal cord and branches out to every organ and body part. Impairment can prevent this complex web of nerves from carrying important messages about pain, heat and cold to the brain. The current issue also explores the Neuroscience Institute: a combination of four specialty programs which treat a wide variety of neurological and neurosurgical problems.

Trauma Center, Summer 2009

Northridge Hospital’s Level II Trauma Center is celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2009. Last year also marked the 25th anniversary of Los Angeles County’s trauma system. To commemorate this historic date, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors presented Northridge Hospital with a scroll for its outstanding care as one of only 13

 
designated trauma centers in the network.
