Kids Care for Mildly Ill Children
We know that balancing a career and family is difficult under the best of circumstances. But when a child becomes ill, working parents may be forced to stay at home with their child, thereby missing valuable work time. That's where Kids Care can help.
We provide a safe, caring environment for your child with a comfortable atmosphere, appropriate activities, and a quality staff. Kids Care is available to families within our community and the employees of Catholic Healthcare West. It is located in a specially designed room at Northridge Hospital Children's Center, 18460 Cantara Street, which is adjacent to the hospital. Kids Care is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is closed on major holidays.
Mildly ill includes such things as flu-like symptoms, low-grade fevers, asthma, congestion, cough, and ear infections. Kids Care is available to children from infancy to 13 years of age. Parents are responsible for providing their children with a lunch for the day. We provide snacks during the day such as crackers, juices, and jello.
There is no pre-registration fee before you attend Kids Care. The cost of the program is $5 per hour.
There is no minimum amount of hours you need to attend. Payment is required in full when you pick up your child.
For additional information you can download a copy of our Kids Care brochure that includes a registration form.
On the day that your child becomes ill, please call to reserve a space before you come. It it is during evening hours or before 7 a.m., please leave a detailed message and the staff will return your call as soon as they arrive. We reserve the right to determine if a child's illness is too severe or contagious to permit admission to the program.
