Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) announced today that it has restructured its governance and changed its name to Dignity Health. Northridge Hospital Medical Center is now a member of Dignity Health. These changes will have no impact on the operations, policies, or mission of Northridge Hospital Medical Center which remains a non-Catholic hospital, following the Statement of Common Values, and committed to the overall health of the communities it serves.

Trauma Center for Kids Opens in the San Fernando Valley

The San Fernando Valley's first and only Pediatric Trauma Center will open Friday at the Northridge Hospital Medical Center. It was partially funded by "Richie's Fund," which Los Angeles Councilman Richard Alarcon created in honor of his toddler son who was killed 23 years ago in a car accident.
After years of efforts, Valley finally getting its first pediatric trauma center.

For years, the San Fernando Valley's smallest victims of car accidents, domestic violence or other severe trauma would be lifted onto a helicopter and flown over the hill for care. It may seem like a summer cold at first, but for infants this can be a severe summer bug. Enteroviruses tend to show up during the hotter months, and while in most cases it's not a lot to worry about parents should know the symptoms and know when to see the doctor, says Pediatrician Dr. Janesri De Silva.
