Our goal is to provide you with an excellent therapeutic experience. It's important to choose a place where you feel comfortable and supported for any kind of mental healthcare. We offer a safe environment for adolescents, adults and seniors to heal and learn healthy behaviors.

Our team of experts combine the latest medical information with the best of traditional medicine and compassion to care for individuals suffering from mental illness and emotional problems.

As a short-term care facility, our focus is on crisis stabilization. Each patient receives a thorough assessment and evaluation to create an individualized treatment plan. Proven methods and interventions, which focus on psycho-education and cognitive behavioral therapy, provide patients with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in recovery. In addition, we offer multi-family therapy support group sessions to educate the family on the best approach to support their loved one on their healing journey.

Our intensive programs maximize the patient’s functioning to prevent further regression. Each patient is given an After-Care Plan, which is designed to help the patient sustain the gain that they achieve while at Northridge Hospital.

Individuals in crisis can call the Northridge Hospital Psychiatric Services Line at 818-885-5484. Available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, callers will be linked to professionals who can provide confidential evaluations, family support, treatment and next-step recommendations. To be admitted to the Behavioral Health Unit, patients must have admitting orders from their physician or be admitted through our Emergency Department.

Inpatient Hospitalization Program

Our Inpatient Behavioral Health Program is for patients who are unable to function at home, work or school due to psychiatric difficulties, drugs or alcohol. Our program provides intensive therapy, support, structure and stability in a safe and therapeutic environment. In addition, specialized behavioral health services are available for seniors in our inpatient program focusing on mood issues and behaviors in the final life stages.

Crisis Intervention
Often a person battling a behavioral problem reaches a point when life becomes overwhelming. Using the Crisis Intervention Model, the Behavioral Health staff rapidly assesses the patient for safety risks and stabilizes the crisis situation. Behavioral Health professionals encourage the exploration of feelings and emotions, then explore alternative and new coping skills. The patient plays an active role in the development of their Action and After-Care Plans.

Detoxification Management and Chemical Dependency Counseling
Detoxification or detox is a process in which a patient’s body is safely withdrawn from the substance to which it is addicted. Addiction clinicians and physicians understand how various substances and destructive behaviors can affect the brain. This understanding of the neurobiology of addiction and recovery allows our doctors and counselors to devise a treatment plan to meet the individual needs of each addicted patient. Our detoxification protocols are tailored for the individual needs of the patient based on current use, past history of substance dependence and physical/emotional status.

Patients are withdrawn using the latest techniques and medicines and are closely monitored to ensure as little discomfort as possible during the detox process. Inpatient detoxification usually takes three to eight days; however, longer stays may be required. When the individual is free of drugs and alcohol, psychological treatment can begin. Chemical Dependency Counseling is recommended as part of the After-Care Plan in order to maintain sobriety.

Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) is a painless procedure in which electric currents are passed through the brain, intentionally triggering a brief seizure. ECT is administered to patients with severe depression, acute mania and certain schizophrenic syndromes. This treatment is used for patients who have been unsuccessfully treated with medications and are seeking an alternative intervention.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
PHP provides the therapy, structure and support of an inpatient program, but allows participants to return home daily. The program provides short-term treatment as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as an option following inpatient care.

We offer transportation to and from the hospital for patients in our Intensive Outpatient Program as well as our Partial Hospitalization Program. Once you are enrolled in one of these, you may arrange your needs with any member of the treatment team.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
When appropriate, we offer Intensive outpatient therapy designed to avert a crisis and make the transition from a hospital setting to your home as smooth as possible. IOP offers group and individual services of 10–12 hours a week. The IOP gives patients the opportunity to continue living at home and work in the community while attending treatment. Patients are able to begin implementing the recovery skills developed throughout the program and have the opportunity to process their experience in a safe and supportive group environment.

We offer transportation to and from the Hospital for patients in our Partial Hospitalization Program as well as our Intensive Outpatient Program. Once you are enrolled in one of these, you may arrange your needs with any member of the treatment team.
