Comprehensive Cancer Center
Treating the mind, body and spirit, the award-winning Thomas & Dorothy Leavey Cancer Center boasts the most comprehensive, technologically-advanced treatments in the Valley and has the distinction of having three esteemed accreditations. We will also be the first facility in the region to offer the Trilogy Linear Accelerator Stereotactic System for image-guided radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery. The Trilogy can treat cancer anywhere in the body by delivering a higher dose of radiation, resulting in fewer treatment sessions.
The Leavey Cancer Center is fully-accredited by the American College of Radiation Oncology, the Association of Community Cancer Centers and the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Our program has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Approvals (ACOS CoC) since 1980. The CoC standards ensure that we have the key elements of a successful cancer program and the tools and talent to provide state-of-the-art cancer care.

Rebuilding To Help Our Patients Rebuild Their Lives
From the most advanced technology resulting in better clinical outcomes, to a healing environment that fosters integrative health and a sense of well-being --- the newly expanded Cancer Center’s research-based design offers treatment for the entire person.
Expected completion date of the expansion is Spring 2009. With features like a natural light atrium with warm finishes, live plants, and a fountain, as well as access to gardens and sanctuaries for rest and reflection, our Center is designed as a healing environment.
We offer an open and flexible chemotherapy area with individual televisions with headsets, DVD players, iPods, and Wi-Fi for laptop access. For the convenience of our patients, the new Center combines clinical and support services in one location.
From future retail shops for cancer patients to resources and classes, the Center’s services will be easily accessed from within the hospital.

First Facility in the Region to Offer TRILOGY (Spring 2009)
Trilogy™ Stereotactic System from Varian Medical Systems is the most advanced, sophisticated machine of its type in the world. As the leading image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) system, Trilogy marks the beginning of a new generation of cancer care.
The versatile Trilogy system combines imaging and treatment technologies, and can be used to deliver the widest range of external beam radiotherapies: 3D conformal radiotherapy, IMRT, stereotactic radiosurgery, fractionated stereotactic radiation therapy and intensity-modulated radiosurgery for cancer and neurosurgical treatments.
Advanced imaging capabilities built into the system allow therapists to position patients for treatment with submillimeter accuracy. A respiratory gating system compensates for any tumor movement that occurs as a patient breathes.
The Trilogy system is powerful, and it can deliver radiotherapy doses at least 60 percent faster than conventional accelerators. This shortens the length of time patients need to spend undergoing treatment. In addition, the radiation beam is highly precise, allowing clinicians to deliver treatments with unprecedented accuracy.
